He graduated from Northeast Normal University with a bachelor's degree in history, and graduated from Fudan University with a master's and doctoral degree in history.
He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Chinese Historical Geography at Fudan University, a member of the Academic Committee of Fudan University, deputy director of the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute, director of the International Research Center for Chinese Customs History and Customs Documents, and director of the Historical Geography Professional Committee of the Chinese Geographical Society.
He once served as the director of the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base, the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Base, and the Fudan University Historical Geography Research Center.

Award status of vice president of the Association Independent or ranked first 1. In June 1995, he was named a cross-century talent and one of the 100 outstanding young teachers of Fudan University.
2. In 1996, his solo book "Northern Immigration and Social Change in the Southern Song Dynasty" won the second prize of the Tan Qixiang Yugong Fund Outstanding Youth Writing Award (the first prize was missing).
