Xi 'an Academy of Fine Arts, founded in 1949, is the only higher art school in northwest China. Its predecessor was the Second Branch of Northwest People's Art College. In July 1949, it was moved from Linfen, Shanxi Province to xingguo temple, Chang 'an County, the southern suburb of Xi 'an, and the Art College of Northwest Military and Political University was established, with Marshal He Long as the first president. In 196, it was named Xi 'an Academy of Fine Arts. In 1994, the college moved to Hanguang Road Campus in Xi 'an. At present, it is a national authorized unit for doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees, and one of the "distinctive and high-level" universities in Shaanxi Province.
The college has the right to award doctoral and master's degrees in three first-class disciplines, namely, art theory, fine arts and design art, as well as the right to apply for the master's degree for postgraduate training of Master of Arts (MFA) and university teachers and equivalent qualifications, and has been approved as a postdoctoral research station in fine arts. Received 12 annual project grants from the National Art Foundation. The college now has 15 teaching departments (departments), including Chinese painting department, oil painting department, printmaking department, sculpture department, arts and crafts department, design department, architectural environment art department, clothing department, art education department, art history department, film and television animation department, art education college, special education art college, basic department, plastic arts department, and other teaching institutions, such as continuing education college, affiliated secondary art school, Shaanxi primary school teacher training center and China. There are more than 7,5 students of all kinds and more than 7 faculty members. There are 33 doctoral supervisors and more than 23 professors and associate professors. The college has 2 national famous teachers and 13 famous teachers in Shaanxi Province. There are 5 national "Three Five" talents, 13 people enjoying special allowance from the State Council, 7 outstanding talents and 6 national excellent teachers.
The college has a number of national-level teaching teams, excellent courses, characteristic majors, innovative experimental areas for talent training modes, experimental teaching demonstration centers, comprehensive professional reform pilots, teaching and research bases, off-campus practice bases for college students, and demonstration bases for red classic art education. The college has a library, Western Art Museum and Art Museum, with a collection of more than 653, paper documents, more than 1,2 ancient and modern paintings and calligraphy works, 368 historical relics (groups), and more than 2, folk art collections, horse pegs, stone lions and other stone carvings.
