People's organizations include the following units: trade unions, Communist Youth League, women's federations, Association for Science and Technology, Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Taiwan Federation, Youth Federation, Federation of Industry and Commerce, Chinese Writers Association, 10 literary and art associations affiliated to China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Journalists Association, Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Institute of Foreign Affairs, CCPIT, Disabled Persons' Federation, Soong Ching Ling Foundation, Law Society, Red Cross Society, and Ideological and Political Work Research Association.

People's organizations refer to organizations other than the government, official organs, enterprises, companies and institutions. Since the establishment of 1949 People's Republic of China (PRC), it has been used to this day.

National mass organizations among people's organizations such as trade unions, women's federations, youth federations, Taiwan Federation, Federation of Industry and Commerce, Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Association for Science and Technology, Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Association of Journalists, and groups for friendship with foreign countries occupy an important position in China's political life, uniting, representing and educating their respective members, and playing an important role in accomplishing various tasks of democratic revolution, socialist revolution and construction.
