The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars supports young scholars who have made outstanding achievements in basic research to choose their own research directions to carry out innovative research, promote the growth of young scientific and technological talents, attract overseas talents, and cultivate a group of outstanding academic leaders who have entered the forefront of world science and technology.

The Fund supports outstanding young scholars from China who are working full-time in Chinese mainland to engage in basic research in natural science. The mainland of China referred to in this Fund refers to the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government of China except Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan Province. The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars is accepted once a year.

According to the Measures for the Administration of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars:

Article 15 An applicant shall truthfully fill in the Applicant Information Form and submit it to the Natural Science Foundation of China when applying for an outstanding youth fund project for the first time. If the bank account and other information of the project supporting unit changes, it shall timely notify the Natural Science Foundation of China.

Sixteenth project funds allocated to the project supporting unit, the receiving unit and the project supporting unit must be consistent.

Seventeenth project funding, according to the provisions of the outstanding youth fund project management measures; Centralized treasury payment shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Ministry of Finance.

Article 18 The cooperation fee of a fund-funded project shall be transferred by the project supporting unit according to the cooperation contract.

Article 19 If a fund-supported project is suspended or cancelled for some reason, the project supporting unit shall return the balance of allocated funds to the Natural Science Foundation of China within three months after receiving the notice. If it is not returned within the time limit, the funding for other projects of the unit will be postponed.
