Xiangtan High-tech Zone was established in 1992. In 2009, it was promoted to the national high-tech zone, and in 20 14, it was approved as the national independent innovation demonstration zone in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan. Located on the bank of Xiangjiang River in the east-central part of Hunan Province, it is the center of the "One Point One Line" economic corridor in the whole province, with jurisdiction over Ma Shuang and Bantang Street, with a total area of 46.8 square kilometers.

There are 865 enterprises and 48 large-scale enterprises/kloc-0 in the whole region, focusing on intelligent technology research and development, energy equipment, new materials, modern service industry, 3D printing, big data and other industries, and relying on the construction of the national independent innovation demonstration zone in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan, efforts are made to build the core of Xiangtan Smart Valley.

The park has Hunan's first academician innovation industrial park, five academician workstations, Lihe Innovation Center, a leading enterprise of science and technology incubation base in Central and South China, 2 1 national and provincial technology research centers, 16 national "863" plan and national torch plan projects, 95 national innovation fund projects, more than 2,600 kinds of high-tech products, and more than 60 leading scientific and technological talents gathered.

In recent years, Xiangtan High-tech Zone has successively won 16 national "golden signboard" such as National New Energy High-tech Industrial Base, National Entrepreneurship Incubation Demonstration Base, National Industry-University-Research Cooperative Innovation Demonstration Base, National Intellectual Property Demonstration Base and National Double Innovation Demonstration Base. It is an important base with active scientific and technological innovation and outstanding industrial characteristics in Hunan and even Central China.
