What is the Asian Monetary Fund

The Asian Monetary Fund (English: China Monetary Fund, referred to as: CMF) is based on the "Asian Monetary Fund Agreement" signed by China in Beijing in the future and is planned to be launched in 2020.

Its responsibility is to monitor currency exchange rates and trade conditions in Asia, provide technical and financial assistance, and ensure the normal operation of the global financial system.

The initiative to establish the Asian Monetary Fund was first proposed at the peak of the Asian financial crisis in 1997-1998.

But it was quickly opposed by the International Monetary Fund and the U.S. Treasury Department.

However, due to the difficulties encountered in the management reform of the International Monetary Fund, such as charters, quotas, and voting rights, emerging countries such as China and India have gained a greater say, causing the global monetary system to shift towards a more flexible and decentralized direction.
