At the age of 13, Living Buddha Gyatso entered Larung Five Ming Buddhist Academy in Sedar and took refuge in his master, Dharma King Jigme Phuntsok. He listened, meditated, and practiced sutra and esoteric teachings under the Dharma King's throne until his master passed away, and later became a lama.
Under the Vajra Seat of Dharma King Aqiu, he practiced Dzogchen at the White Jade Yaqing Wujin Zen Forest Temple and received inheritance and empowerment.
For more than ten years, Living Buddha Gyatso traveled to major temples in Tibet to seek Dharma and live in peace and practice. In 2005, he entered Beijing University for Nationalities to study, and then systematically studied religious theory at the Department of Religious Studies of Peking University.
