Sichuan’s economic aggregate ranks eighth in the country and first in the western region, with per capita GDP exceeding US$4,000. Chengdu's total economic volume exceeds one trillion yuan, 14 cities and states have entered the "100 billion club", and 109 counties (cities, districts) have exceeded 10 billion yuan. Its comprehensive strength ranks first in the western region. Sichuan has more than 200 industrial parks of various types, and 283 Fortune 500 companies have settled in Sichuan, including 210 foreign Fortune 500 companies, with total direct investment in Sichuan exceeding US$10 billion.

In 2014, the province achieved a gross regional product (GDP) of 2.85367 billion yuan, an increase of 8.5% over the previous year. The added value of the primary industry was 353.11 billion yuan; the added value of the secondary industry was 1,451.94 billion yuan; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 1,048.62 billion yuan. The per capita regional GDP is 35,128 yuan. The annual local public finance revenue was 305.85 billion yuan, of which tax revenue was 231.17 billion yuan; public finance expenditure was 678.43 billion yuan. The total investment in fixed assets of the whole society was 2.35775 billion yuan throughout the year. The per capita disposable income of urban residents throughout the year was 24,381 yuan, and the Engel coefficient of urban residents was 40.1%; the per capita net income of rural residents throughout the year was 8,803 yuan, and the Engel coefficient of rural residents was 43.2%. Sichuan agriculture has a tradition of intensive farming, and has formed a three-season farming system of summer crops, autumn crops, and late autumn crops. The annual crop planting area is 145-150 million acres, including about 100 million acres of food crops, 22-25 million acres of cash crops, and 23-25 ??million acres of other crops. Among the grain crops, the cultivation of rice, wheat, corn, sweet potato, potato, soybean, etc. has obvious advantages, especially rice. The annual planting area is about 30 million acres, accounting for about 30% of the grain area, and the output accounts for more than 40% of the total grain output. Throughout the year, 74.45 million pigs were slaughtered; 2.787 million cattle were slaughtered; and 16.327 million sheep were slaughtered. The annual aquaculture area was 199,400 hectares, and the output of aquatic products was 1.3263 million tons. Industry

Sichuan is the industrial base in western China with the most complete industrial categories and the most advantageous products. Machinery, electronics, metallurgy, chemical industry, aerospace, nuclear industry, building materials, food, silk, leather and other industries occupy an important position in the western region and even the country. Strategic emerging industries such as new generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, biology, energy conservation and environmental protection are developing rapidly.

In 2014, the total industrial added value was 1.2409 billion yuan, contributing 52.5% to economic growth. There are 12,974 industrial enterprises above designated size. Throughout the year, industrial enterprises above designated size achieved main business income of 3,755.97 billion yuan, total profits and taxes of 389.72 billion yuan, and net profit of 204.63 billion yuan.

Construction Industry

In 2014, Sichuan Province achieved an added value of 222.54 billion yuan in the construction industry. There are 3,545 general construction contracting and professional contracting construction enterprises, achieving a total profit and tax of 56.14 billion yuan. Sichuan is an important distribution center for various production, life factors and commodities in the west, especially the southwestern region.

In 2014, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 1.16658 billion yuan. Among them, the retail sales of urban consumer goods was 934.88 billion yuan; the retail sales of rural consumer goods was 231.70 billion yuan. Throughout the year, enterprises (units) above designated size achieved retail sales of consumer goods of 613.71 billion yuan, of which retail sales of commodities were 570.09 billion yuan.

Foreign Economy

Sichuan ranks among the top in the central and western regions in its utilization of foreign capital, introduction of domestic and foreign enterprise investment, and number of foreign financial institutions. In 2014, the actual utilization of foreign investment was US$10.65 billion. 280 new foreign direct investment enterprises were approved, with a total of 10,472 approved. The actual amount of foreign investment capital in place was US$10.29 billion. There are 299 overseas Fortune 500 companies settled in Sichuan. By the end of the year, there were 12 foreign consular offices in Sichuan. The total import and export volume for the whole year was US$70.25 billion. Among them, the export volume was US$44.85 billion; the import volume was US$25.40 billion, ranking second in the west.

Financial Industry

Sichuan is the province with the largest number of financial institutions, the most complete types, and the highest degree of openness in the western region. There are 253 banking financial institutions, 100 securities, futures, and fund institutions, and 73 insurance institutions. Thirteen foreign banks and 15 Sino-foreign joint venture insurance companies have settled in Sichuan.
