There are mainly the following kinds of scholarships at Heriot Watt University:

(1) Tuition scholarship: 1 million pounds, including 3 million pounds for students from other parts of the UK.

(2) Life Scholarship: 1.5 million pounds, for students from other parts of the UK.

　If you plan to study in Scotland from 217/18, you may be eligible for one of our 72 new Heriot-Watt scholarships. Successful Scholars will benefit from a fee reduction in one of three categori es:

　Heriot-Watt Distinction Scholarships – 1% reduction (for overseas applicants only)

　Heriot-Watt Excellence Scholarships – 5% reduction (for overseas applicants only)

　Heriot-Watt Merit Scholarships – 25% reduction (for overseas applicants), ? 2, reduction (for Home/EU/Rest of UK applicants)

　The new Undergraduate scholarships are open to overseas applicants and the newPostgraduate taught scholarships are open to all applicants.

2 New Scholarships for the 17/18 academic year

If you plan to study in Scotland in the 217/18 academic year, you can apply for any new scholarship from Heriot Watt University. There are 72 new scholarships. Successful students will receive tuition fee remission from any of the following three types of scholarships:

(1) Heriot Watt University Differential Scholarship-full tuition fee remission, only for overseas applicants;

(2) excellent scholarship of Heriot Watt University-half tuition fee reduction, only for overseas applicants;

(3) Heriot Watt University Quality Scholarship-25% tuition fee reduction (for overseas applicants); Tuition fee remission of 2 pounds (for domestic students, EU students and students from other parts of the UK).

The newly-added undergraduate scholarship is open to overseas applicants, and the newly-added postgraduate scholarship is open to all applicants.

　Music Scholarships

　Heriot-Watt University awards many music scholarships each year in the form of free music tuition for talented choral sin gers and orchestral instrumentalists up to a maximum of ? 4 per year. These scholarships are generously supported by the Heriot-Watt Alumni fund.

　The Archer Music Scholarships offer tuition for one student up to a maximum of ? 5 per year. The Archer Music Scholarships also offer two places on the HeriotWatt residential music course for students. They are supported by Mrs Lesley Archer in memory of her late husband, Professor John Archer, The former principal of Heriotwart University.

The CAS music scholarships offer two places on the Heriot-watt residential music course for students.

Music scholarships

Heriot Watt University awards many music scholarships every year. Music scholarships are provided in the form of tuition remission for music majors, and are provided to talented chorus singers and orchestral players. The annual amount of music scholarships does not exceed 4 pounds. These music scholarships are provided by the Heriot Watt University Alumni Foundation.

John Archer Music Scholarship is used for tuition, which is provided to a student, and the annual amount does not exceed 5 pounds. John Archer Music Scholarship is also applicable to local music courses at Heriot Watt University, and there are two places reserved for students. These scholarships were funded by Ms. Lesley Archer in memory of her late husband, Professor John Archer, former director of Heriot Watt University.
