In Buddhism, merit is not determined by the amount of money. But the size of new soul.
Let me give you an example:
Some people only have 10 yuan and donated to 9 yuan, accounting for 90%.
Some people donated 654.38 billion yuan and 900,000 yuan, accounting for 9%.
Who has made greater achievements?
Ordinary people think that the latter is very meritorious because he donated 900,000 yuan.
Buddhism thinks that the former has great merits, because he only has 10 yuan. He is more sincere.
Liang Wudi was an ancient emperor. He believed in Buddhism and built countless temples for monks all over the world.
He asked dharma: how much merit do I have?
Father Dharma replied: There is no merit.
Some super-rich people build temples and churches. They think they will definitely go to heaven.
Is that really the case?
Jesus said in the Bible: It is more difficult for a rich man to go to heaven than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.
