Brief introduction of Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation:
To commemorate Soong Ching Ling (former honorary chairman of People's Republic of China (PRC), Mrs. Sun Yat-sen), inherit and carry forward her lifelong spirit of caring for women and loving children, contact friendly groups and enthusiastic people at home and abroad, develop maternal and child health care and children's cultural and educational welfare in China Welfare Institute, remote and poor areas in Shanghai and China, and make contributions to enhancing international friendship and safeguarding world peace, the conference was held on May 27th, 2008. Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation is co-located with china welfare institute. Dexin Xu, vice chairman and secretary general of china welfare institute, is also the vice chairman and secretary general of Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation, and is composed of 38 directors from home and abroad. With the support of all walks of life, Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation has made great progress in various undertakings and become one of the well-known foundations in society.
The funds of Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation mainly come from donations from friendly groups, units and individuals at home and abroad, fully respecting the wishes of donors, and are used for the development of maternal and child health care, education and welfare for children in remote and poor areas of Shanghai and China.
Since its establishment, Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation has actively raised funds to support the cause of women and children in China Welfare Institute founded by Soong Ching Ling. Adhere to the grassroots and poverty-stricken areas, carry out cultural poverty alleviation work focusing on Hulunbeier, Anhui Jinzhai and Hainan Wenchang in Inner Mongolia, and improve local maternal and child health care facilities; Attach importance to international academic and cultural exchanges, carry out research on topics and cooperate in running schools; Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation has established good relations with Japanese Soong Ching Ling Foundation, Canadian Soong Ching Ling Children's Foundation and Hungarian Soong Ching Ling Children's Friendship Foundation and carried out many fruitful cooperation. We have carried out various forms of international children's cultural exchange activities with children's cultural organizations and schools in more than 20 countries and regions, and made efforts to enhance international friendship, promote the reunification of the motherland and safeguard world peace.
After entering the 2 1 century, with the development and progress of society, Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation entered a new period of development, and gradually established and created two awards and one festival, namely, Soong Ching Ling Camphor Tree Award, Soong Ching Ling Scholarship and Shanghai International Children's Culture and Art Festival, to encourage the whole society to care for women and children, promote quality education and strengthen international children's education.
Soong Ching Ling Camphor Tree Award is a national award established by 1985 to commemorate the honorary president of the country, inherit and carry forward her spirit of caring for women and children, and further promote the development of women and children in China. It is selected once every two years to commend people who have made outstanding contributions to China's maternal and child health care and children's cultural education for a long time, as well as a group of overseas celebrities who are engaged in and concerned about the cause of women and children. Xie Bingxin, Chen Bochui, Zhang Leping and Gao Shiqi, the famous children's workers, have all won this honor. In 2000, the 10th Soong Ching Ling Camphor Tree Award was awarded in Shanghai.
Soong Ching Ling Scholarship is the only national scholarship in China's basic education stage, which was jointly established by the Ministry of Education and china welfare institute. 1994. Every two years, 300 outstanding primary and secondary school students are selected. Has won four awards successfully. Shanghai International Children's Culture and Art Festival is an international children's cultural and artistic exchange activity approved by the people and the Ministry of Culture of China every three years. It has been successfully held for three times in 1994, 1997 and 2000, and nearly 100 children's art groups from more than 20 countries and regions around the world participated in various exchange activities of the festival. This not only provides a good channel for absorbing the outstanding achievements of world culture and prospering children's literary and artistic creation, but also further promotes the friendship and exchanges between children and contributes to human progress and the cause of world peace.
