in the torrent of social development, most rural primary schools are facing the current situation of student drain and teacher shortage, and a large part of them are dying out. Under difficulties and crises, there are also many opportunities, and reading promotion is undoubtedly the most correct way to solve the dilemma.
promoting reading in rural schools, combined with my nearly 1 years of work experience, summed up the following four points for reference:
First, create a rich scholarly atmosphere.
The creation of a reading environment on campus will exert a subtle influence on children. If the campus is full of books, children will develop good reading habits in silence.
First of all, the construction of school libraries
The construction of school libraries is the first condition for promoting reading. Rural primary schools can obtain books in three ways: distribution by the education department, self-purchase and application to reading public welfare organizations. Guixin Foundation, Action and other public welfare organizations have books available for application.
The location of the school library is also very important. Choosing a place where children often pass by will improve the utilization rate. The layout of the library should be combined with the physical and mental characteristics of primary school students, full of childlike interest and specially built for children.
In the operation of the library, teachers who have a strong sense of responsibility and like reading can be arranged to serve as librarians. Formulate management system, train student librarians to assist teachers and manage the library.
Secondly, create a class book corner
Some people say, "If children want to love reading, they should put books where they can get them." The construction of class book corner is particularly important.
in order to arouse children's enthusiasm, when I build a class book corner, I let the children participate in the whole process, from the selection and installation of bookshelves to the environmental layout of the book corner, and finally the determination of the name of the book corner. I still remember that when the bookcase was just bought back, it was assembled by senior students on campus, while junior students stood in a circle and watched it, clapping and cheering from time to time.
When the book corner was named, it was voted and screened by everyone, and names full of personality and childlike interest, such as "Shuxiang House", "Happiness Garden" and "Little Black Fish", became the names of all book corners.
If the source is highlighted in the library corner of the class, you can borrow some from the library, and the students will donate some. With high-quality books, it is very convenient for students to borrow, and the reading atmosphere in the class is stronger, which also brings up the students' enthusiasm for reading.
Third, create open books on campus.
You can set up open books in the stairwell and corridor of the school building. The completion of these book bars has provided children with a comfortable and free reading space. During recess, before and after meals, there are often children standing, sitting, lying down and reading books in the book bar.
In the open book bar, try to put some newly purchased books, or brochures of new books, and also show the excellent works of children.
Fourth, decorate the campus reading environment
You can set up reading slogans in a conspicuous position on campus, and use the big screen of the school to promote reading famous sayings. These propaganda contents make teachers and students start their reading life as soon as they step into the campus.
On the publicity column of the campus, you can set up a good book recommendation column; In the green belt of the campus, book slogans can also be installed; The corridor on the outer wall of the class displays children's book review cards, handwritten newspapers, reading points cards and so on.
The layout of campus reading environment should give full play to students' main role, brainstorm and innovate actively. Make every wall talk and create a world with a sense of life for children.
second, cultivate teachers' reading habits.
To build a scholarly campus, the first condition is to have a teacher who loves reading and a headmaster who loves reading. Teaching by example is more important than teaching by words. Teachers and principals who love reading are role models for students. If you want students to study, you must first make teachers fall in love with reading. If teachers don't read enough, they can't guide students to read well, let alone promote reading continuously.
Teachers should start reading with their parents. I gave them a suggestion, first find a picture book and tell it to their children at night, so that their children can fall in love with reading first. Slowly, the teachers took action. Teacher Bai read to my daughter in the evening, and day by day, my daughter fell in love with reading. At the final exam, she was the only one who got 92 points in Chinese, which showed me the power of reading. Other teachers in the school saw the effect of reading and joined the ranks, telling their children and reading with their children. Seeing the progress of my children, I have thought: if I accompany the children in my class to read, will they make progress? Children fall in love with reading, will I save more effort in Chinese class? Children fall in love with reading, will it help his math performance? What about class management? With these questions, they began to try. The result was quite satisfactory, so more people joined in.
Secondly, we should hold a good reading exchange meeting for teachers. Teachers' reading exchange meeting is an important way to promote teachers' reading, an important platform for teachers' growth, and an important carrier for group growth and building a scholarly campus. After the teacher studies, the communication meeting is the best way to output. Several people share the communication in a relaxed environment, not only feeling the power of companionship, but also learning from each other and learning from each other's strengths.
Third, the reward mechanism should keep up. Selecting monthly and annual scholarly teachers is an affirmation and encouragement for teachers to study. You can also make use of the weekly regular meeting time to let teachers do simple sharing.
third, plan to promote reading activities.
Colorful reading activities can promote children's reading habits.
In rural schools, various reading activities, such as story telling, essay writing, handwritten newspaper, speech and recitation, can be held in combination with the actual situation of the school. These activities provide a platform for students to display and output the books they read. The summary and commendation after the activity can better arouse the enthusiasm of the students.
Schools can also hold long-span reading activities. In the first half of the year, we can design a one-month reading exhibition based on World Reading Day. For example, this year, drama can be the theme, so that students can read books first, then choose scripts, arrange and rehearse themselves, and then perform before the end of the month. Next year, we can take "Handwritten Books" as the theme, read books and consult materials first, and then begin to design handmade books, focus on display, summarize and commend them. A month's series of reading activities can better show the talents of students, let them use their brains and hands, and maximize the reading effect.
The school should also select "reading stars" and "scholarly families" for students who love reading for one semester and one school year, and set an example. Driven by the role models around them, the reading atmosphere is easier to form.
If school conditions permit, it would be better to offer reading courses. With the guidance of courses and the intervention of school administration, the road of reading promotion will be smoother.
Fourth, parent-child reading helps to travel far.
