The King of the Shanzhai mainly tells the story that in a certain year of the Ming Dynasty, the King of the Shanzhai, Ma Tian, was instructed by his father-in-law Liu to assassinate the current emperor. Zhou Bufan, an innocent servant in Zhuge Ming's mansion, the minister of the Ministry of War, was sent to prison as a scapegoat because of his similar appearance to Ma Tian.

In order to survive, Zhou Bufan was involved in a treacherous court battle, and began an unfortunate journey of irony and misunderstanding.
