China Development Bank is funded by China countries and directly under the leadership of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the State Council.

It owns subsidiaries such as CDB Finance, CDB Securities, CDB Golden Rent, China-Africa Fund, Huaxin Company, CDB Development Fund and CDB Infrastructure Fund. The name of "China Development Bank Corporation" was changed to "China Development Bank", and the organizational form was changed from a joint stock company to a limited liability company.
