The evaluation process for the National Scholarship for Outstanding Self-financed International Students is very strict and the competition is becoming increasingly fierce.
If you want to finally receive this honor, the applicant must have made outstanding achievements in his or her research field, and this measurement criterion is mainly the number and quality of academic papers published during the Ph.D. program.
This scholarship is mainly implemented in 29 countries with a large number of Chinese students studying abroad at their own expense, such as the United States and Japan. There are a maximum of 500 places, of which no more than 10 will be awarded "Special Excellence Awards".
So far, 2,907 outstanding students studying abroad have won the "National Scholarship for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad".
This scholarship was established by the China Scholarship Council in 2003 to encourage overseas students to return to work in China or serve the country in various forms.
The implementation details of the scholarship also stipulate that after the winner finally obtains the degree, if he intends to return to his country to work, the Education Office of the embassy abroad can assist in making priority recommendations to domestic professional counterparts and assist in contact work.
For those winners who are temporarily unable to return to their country due to various factors, the China Scholarship Council and the Education Offices of the embassies abroad should keep in touch with them to encourage or support them to serve the country in various forms.
After receiving the National Scholarship for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad, each winner’s information will be entered into the national overseas talent pool.
Many domestic universities and institutions will give priority to these winners when recruiting overseas young talents and attracting overseas students to return to China to start businesses.
