the department of food science and technology was established in 1984, which was formed by the merger of agricultural products storage and processing discipline in the former horticulture department, animal nutrition specialty in the animal husbandry and veterinary department and mechanical engineering in the agricultural machinery department. In 1985, two majors of food science and animal nutrition began to enroll students. In 1987, the major of animal nutrition was transferred to the College of Animal Science and Technology.
