Chengdu has been positioned as a national central city for the following reasons:
1. In September 214, the milken Institute, an American economic think tank, published the ranking of the best performing cities in Asia. Six cities in China ranked in the top ten, and Chengdu ranked third, surpassing Beijing and Shanghai, and was the only city in the midwest to enter the top ten, following Shenzhen and Guangzhou. In the first half of the year, the Asian Development Bank released the livable index of China mainland cities, ranking first in Chengdu.
2. Statistics show that in the first half of this year, Chengdu's investment in fixed assets was 418.36 billion yuan, up 13.9% year-on-year, and its total investment ranked first among sub-provincial cities in China. From January to July, the total investment in fixed assets reached 478.17 billion yuan, still ranking first in sub-provincial cities, and Guangzhou, a sub-provincial city, ranked eighth with 266.54 billion yuan.
3. From January to June this year, Chengdu completed industrial investment of 17.3 billion yuan, an increase of 37.3%, ranking first among 15 sub-provincial cities in China. In the first seven months, it increased by 36.7% year-on-year, and in the first eight months, it increased by 35.8%, ranking first in the sub-provincial cities.
Chengdu also holds the world-famous Chengdu International Non-legacy Festival. Chengdu International Heritage Festival, which is held every two years, is one of the few national-level international cultural activity brands approved by the State Council. It is the only international festival to protect intangible cultural heritage in China, and it is also the first large-scale cultural festival in the international community to promote the protection of human intangible cultural heritage. Since the second non-legacy festival, UNESCO has participated in the hosting.
