1995 a group of film critics, in view of the long-term lack of local organizations composed of film critics and the Hong Kong Film Awards of the Year, which reflect the choice of professional film critics, was formally established in March 1995 after several planning meetings by the promoters, becoming the first such organization. The aim of Hong Kong Film Critics Association is to unite a group of like-minded film critics and promote the spirit of independent film criticism. Advocating to comment on Hong Kong films from the perspective of culture and art; Re-evaluate the achievements of Hong Kong films.

All along, the Hong Kong Film Critics Association has made a lot of achievements in the popularization of culture and art through publishing, holding lectures, screening and symposiums. In addition to continuing to establish a fairly basic work in this field, it is an urgent task for us to respond to social conditions and current opportunities, strengthen film culture and art education in the coming year and implement key plans for specific goals. Especially in today's visual culture era, teenagers receive a large number of images, and the significance of youth film education is far-reaching.

We have been working hard to promote the appreciation and criticism of Hong Kong films. Over the years, we have cooperated with different organizations and held many film guides and lectures. For example, in 2002-2003, we cooperated with LCSD to hold the "Traveling Exhibition of Business Cards" and designed and held the "World Classic Film Course". This year, we were sponsored by Richelief Foundation and jointly organized the "Film Education Program for Middle School Students" with Hong Kong Film Archive. From June 65438+ 10 in 2004 to May 2005, Sixth Middle School participated to let students know the relationship between Hong Kong movies and social changes.

Since September, 2003, our members have held a "90 Minutes Pure Salon" party at Kubrick Bookstore, Broadway Film Center in Yau Ma Tei on the first Sunday of each month, which allowed the film critics and fans present to enjoy themselves and expand the space for film culture discussion. In addition, the "Three Sides of CIA Film" jointly organized by us and the Hong Kong International Film Festival continues to be a platform for sharing and dialogue among Hong Kong film circles, film critics and audiences. We participate in the "Cowshed Book Fair" every year, not only selling the publications published by our association and the works of members, but also holding lectures and salon exchanges to strengthen communication with readers.

Over the years, we have worked hard to improve the level of film criticism, promote film cultural exchanges, and pay attention to the government's policies on culture and film art. We have published 2/kloc-0 kinds of works, including The Annual Review of Hong Kong Films, 200 Classics-200 Best Chinese Films, and The Picturesque World of Wong Kar-wai.
