Supply and marketing cooperatives are different from credit cooperatives. Supply and marketing cooperatives are joint organizations under the jurisdiction of the government, and credit cooperatives are financial institutions.

Supply and marketing cooperatives:

The All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives is a joint organization of the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, led by the State Council, and the administrative level is ministerial level.

According to the Notice of the General Office of the State Council on Printing and Distributing (Guo Ban Fa [1995] No.39), the main responsibilities of the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives are:

1. To study and formulate the development strategies and plans of the national supply and marketing cooperatives, and guide the development and reform of the national supply and marketing cooperatives;

2. According to the authorization of the government, organize, coordinate and manage important agricultural means of production and agricultural and sideline products;

3. Safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of supply and marketing cooperatives at all levels;

4. Coordinate the relationship with relevant departments, guide the business activities of the national supply and marketing cooperatives, and promote the exchange of materials between urban and rural areas;

5. To publicize and implement the principles and policies of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on rural economic work;

6. Represent China cooperatives in various activities of the International Cooperative Alliance;

7. To undertake other tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.

Credit cooperative:

Rural credit cooperatives refer to rural cooperative financial institutions established with the approval of the People's Bank of China, which are composed of members' shares, implement democratic management and mainly provide financial services for members. Rural credit cooperatives are independent enterprise legal persons, which are responsible for the debts of rural credit cooperatives with all their assets and enjoy civil rights according to law. Its property, legitimate rights and interests and business activities carried out according to law are protected by state laws. Its main task is to raise idle funds in rural areas and provide financial services for agriculture, farmers and rural economic development. In accordance with national laws and financial policies, organize and standardize rural funds, support agricultural production and comprehensive rural development, support various forms of cooperative economy and family economy, and limit and crack down on usury. Rural credit cooperatives are divided into the following departments: Rural Credit Cooperatives, International Finance Department of Rural Credit Cooperatives, Zhengtong Rural Credit Cooperatives Training School, and Credit Department of Rural Credit Cooperatives. It is a department under the dual leadership of CBRC and the State Council.
