Some urban areas are called social insurance fund management centers. In addition, in many areas, the personnel bureau and the social security center are merged, collectively known as the human resources and social security bureau, and divided into two levels: city and district.

Mainly engaged in five insurances and one gold (i.e. endowment insurance, medical insurance, maternity insurance, industrial injury insurance, unemployment insurance, housing accumulation fund) and other businesses, it is a social insurance agency and institution.

Article 2 of the Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) (hereinafter referred to as the Insurance Law) clearly defines insurance: "The insurance mentioned in this Law refers to the commercial insurance behavior in which the applicant pays the insurance premium to the insurer in accordance with the contract, and the insurer bears the liability for compensation for the property losses caused by the possible accidents agreed in the contract, or when the insured dies, suffers from disability, illness or reaches the age and time limit agreed in the contract.

The full name is Social Insurance Administration (Medical Insurance Administration), which belongs to the second-level bureau under the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

The main responsibilities of the Social Security Bureau:

1. Set up files for employers and individuals in time, completely and accurately record social insurance data such as payment and social insurance benefits of units and individuals, and collect and save relevant original vouchers;

2, to provide employers and individuals with their payment and enjoy social insurance benefits records query, check, provide social insurance consulting and other related business;

3. Pay social insurance (medical insurance) benefits in full and on time;

4. Establish and improve the business, safety and risk management system.
