Professor Liu Yang has been engaged in optimization, reliability analysis, simulation and safety assessment research on various petroleum engineering problems for many years. In the past ten years, he has undertaken more than 30 scientific research projects at all levels, won the first prize for ministerial scientific and technological progress, 16 scientific research achievement awards at all levels, and won the first Youth Science and Technology Award of Heilongjiang Province, and is an outstanding young and middle-aged scientific and technological expert in Heilongjiang Province. Heilongjiang Province Outstanding Youth Science and Technology Award. He has published more than 50 academic papers in domestic and foreign academic journals, some of which have been included in SCI. He is the author of "Petroleum Engineering Optimization Design Theory and Methods" and other monographs. Professor Liu Yang is mainly engaged in research on oil and gas gathering and transportation system optimization theory and application, multivariate random drilling optimization theory and application, equipment and structure optimization design, and safety and reliability evaluation of in-service equipment.

During his many years of management and academic career, Comrade Liu Yang has received many national and provincial awards and commendations. Mainly include: National Outstanding Science and Technology Workers in 2006, Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2009 (first person), Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award in 2009 (first person), Heilongjiang Province’s First Youth Science and Technology Award, Provincial Science and Technology Award Outstanding young and middle-aged science and technology experts, Heilongjiang Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund Award, Heilongjiang Provincial Leadership Scientific Achievement Award, two first-class Heilongjiang Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, China National Petroleum Corporation's cross-century subject leader, etc. Comrade Liu Yang has long been engaged in research on optimization, reliability analysis, simulation and safety technology of various petroleum engineering problems. He has independently undertaken more than 70 scientific research projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, 973 scientific research projects and provincial and ministerial level or above. He has published more than 80 academic papers in domestic and foreign academic journals, many of which were indexed by SCI, EI and other international search agencies, and published 5 monographs. It was the first time in the world that the drilling stochastic optimization theory was proposed, especially the large-scale pipe network topology optimization theory. The results filled the domestic gap and created huge economic and social benefits for the country. Relevant deeds have been reported many times by media such as Guangming Daily, China Higher Education, and Heilongjiang Daily.
