From mid-July, 2065438 to mid-July, 2007, Shenzhen Yue Long Charity Foundation, which is dedicated to "providing humanistic care for individual lives under the background of war", dug up a batch of gasoline tanks of American troops during World War II when searching for the remains of soldiers killed by the expeditionary force in Taiping Town, Shidian County, Yunnan Province, which were filled with the remains of Chinese expeditionary forces who died here during the counterattack in western Yunnan. Shidian County, located on the east bank of Nujiang River, had an extremely important strategic position during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. More than 654.38 million Chinese expeditionary forces are stationed here. According to the natural barrier of Nujiang River, they confronted the Japanese army for two years, and finally launched a big counterattack in western Yunnan on May 65, 1944. After arduous battles, Longling, occupied by Japan, was recaptured with about 60,000 casualties.
At the beginning of the war, the wounded needed to be transported back to Shidian County Rear Hospital on the east bank of Nujiang River for treatment. At every ferry crossing in Nujiang River, there are military-civilian cooperation stations, and local migrant workers become the main force to transport the wounded. Yang Shanzhou, former secretary of Baoshan District Committee, was born in 1927. During War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's time, he participated in the stretcher team that transported the wounded. Because the Japanese army occupied the west bank of the Nujiang River for two years and built strong fortifications, according to the height, it caused great casualties to the Chinese expeditionary force. According to some surviving migrant workers, due to the difficult roads, many wounded people died on the road before being transported back to the rear hospital, so they had to be buried hastily on the spot. Even the wounded in the rear hospital are difficult to get effective treatment because of lack of medical care and limited conditions. Most of the wounded were placed in the homes of local villagers and resigned to their fate. In the villages in the upper reaches of the Nujiang River, villagers often find white bones when farming or building houses. The picture shows that this petrol tank has been exposed and half of it is gone. The digger found several teeth in it.
Taiping Town, Shidian County is located on the east side of the famous Huitong Bridge, where the Chinese Expeditionary Force once built a gas station. According to the local old man, some dead officers and men were buried in petrol cans because there were no coffins. During the counter-offensive in western Yunnan, the US military provided a lot of military assistance, including weapons, gasoline, battlefield hospitals and other strategic materials and services. Due to historical reasons, the graves of these heroic soldiers who died in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression have not been properly protected and commemorated, and most of the soldiers who died in battle have not found their relatives so far. These situations make more and more people feel sad and guilty. They took active actions to help the heroes find their relatives and repair their graves.
On July 7th, 20 17, Yue Long Charity Foundation of Shenzhen, together with Yunnan Western Yunnan Anti-Japanese War Historical and Cultural Research Association, launched the activity of "General Survey of Soldiers' Cemetery in Western Yunnan Expeditionary Force, Looking for Remains". Associate Professor Chen Liang, an archaeologist from Northwest University, led a team to participate in the excavation of the remains. The School of Life Sciences of Fudan University will conduct DNA identification on the remains, leaving life information for these heroes and heroes, so as to facilitate the comparison between relatives and relatives. After analyzing the found remains, Associate Professor Chen Liang said that according to the teeth found, most officers and men died at the age of 18 to 2 1 year. Because of the war, their lives came to an abrupt end at the best age of their lives. The remains found at present are temporarily located in the former site of the Chinese Expeditionary Force 1 1 Military Command in Shidian County. With the support of the local government, a memorial cemetery will be built as soon as possible so that they can get a decent funeral.
I hope to build a memorial cemetery as soon as possible so that they can get a decent burial.
