Individual difficult basic research projects can apply for extension before the deadline for cleaning up, but the reasons for extension, project progress and publication of phased results should be truthfully explained, and the completion time should be promised. For projects that fail to submit the closing materials by the deadline and the extension application by the required time, the National Social Science Planning Office and the Guangdong Provincial Social Science Planning Office will no longer accept the closing and terminate the processing, and may not declare the projects of the National Social Science Fund again within five years. All project leaders are required to attach great importance to the completion of the project.

The closing materials include: 1. Grade draft (two-way anonymity); 2. Exemption from submission of appraisal materials (projects applying for communication review can be exempted); 3. Summary report; 4. Briefly introduce the final result; 5. Check the copy of the report; 6. List of funds (financial seal is required by the end of the month).
