Baicheng City in Jilin Province is not poor.

Baicheng City's per capita cultivated land, grassland, woodland, water surface, and reed area ranks first in Jilin Province.

It is relatively rich in petroleum resources, wind resources and various mineral resources. There are world-class A-level wetlands, national nature reserve Xianghai, and national nature reserve Momoge.

In 1992, Xianghai was designated by the State Council to be included in the "List of Internationally Important Wetlands". In the same year, it was rated as an "A-level nature reserve with international significance" by the World Wildlife Fund.
