Harbin Institute of Technology builds a "double first-class" university in Heilongjiang Province. Harbin university of science and technology is a university jointly established by the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province, a national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in the Midwest", a university undertaken by the national "973" and "863" projects, a high-level university in Heilongjiang Province and a university with advantages and characteristics in Heilongjiang Province ("double-class"). The school has four campuses, three in the east, west and south of Harbin, and the Rongcheng campus of Harbin University of Science and Technology is in Rongcheng City, Shandong Province.
