Guan Yu, or Guan Yu, is a character in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Shen Bojun, a professor at the School of Literature and Journalism, Sichuan University, believes that Guan Yu in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms has three characteristics: First, he is known as "General Xiong Hu" because of his strong martial arts and bravery; Secondly, he is resolute and conceited, posing as the "boss", sometimes arrogant and domineering, laying a hidden danger for the fall of Jingzhou; Third, he is full of loyalty and is called an upright man in the world. In the face of the failure of the Northern Expedition, he retreated to Maicheng and eventually died.

Guan Gong is a real historical figure, which not only appears in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but also appears in religious lineages such as Buddhism and Taoism. In this regard, Hu Xiaowei, a researcher at the Institute of Literature of the China Academy of Social Sciences and director of the Guan Gong Cultural Committee of the China Folk Writers Association, explained that Guan Gong is a human being and is sanctified by the gods, mainly because Guan Gong has personality power respected by various religions.

She Daping, a professor at the College of Literature of Hubei University, believes that the word "righteousness" in Guan Gong culture should be understood as justice, loyalty and chivalry. He said that in a big way, it is loyalty to the country and the nation.

Xia Rixin, director of Chu Culture Institute of Hubei Academy of Social Sciences, believes that Guan Gong's "loyalty and courage" and "righteousness" are Guan Gong's most touching personality strength. In the modern market economy environment, Guan Gong's "faith" is an indispensable humanistic spirit in building a harmonious society.

Not only in China, but also in some countries, such as South Korea and Japan, Guan Yu has also been integrated into the lives of local people. Zhan Hanglun, a professor of Chinese Department at HKU, said that in South Korea, Guan Yu is regarded as the god of victory, rain, fate and articles, and the worship of Guan Gong in South Korea has been deeply rooted in people's hearts.

Nobuyoshi Tanihiro, a professor of literature at Kansai University in Japan, said that the Japanese like the story of the Three Kingdoms and regard Guan Yu as a hero. The Japanese didn't have the habit of worshipping Guan Gong Temple before. With more and more Japanese people, Guan Gong Temple has gradually flourished in China.

This shows that Guan Gong's culture has a far-reaching influence. Xu, director of the Culture and Art Committee of the Chinese Huaxia Cultural Heritage Foundation of the Ministry of Culture, said that Guan Gong culture, as an excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, is permeated with "loyalty, benevolence and courage" and is the spiritual carrier for building a harmonious society and enhancing cultural strength. The idea of "great unification" contained in it is a positive factor to realize national reunification and a "spiritual bond" to maintain Chinese people all over the world.
