In order to promote the development of China's optical science and technology, and encourage young and middle-aged scientific and technological personnel engaged in optics and optical engineering and young college students in China to make progress, innovate and forge ahead, Professor Wang Daheng, an academician of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering, invested to set up a fund in the China Science and Technology Development Foundation. Since 1996, the chinese optical society Science and Technology Award has been awarded, and it has been awarded for three times in 1996, 1997 and 1998. At the Standing Council of chinese optical society in 2, it was decided to change the name of the prize to "Wang Daheng Prize for Optics".

In order to make the Wang Daheng Prize for Optics develop continuously, the fund has received strong support from relevant units. The Board of Directors of the Wang Daheng Optical Prize was established, and 25 winners of three sessions in 21, 23 and 27 have been awarded.

The Wang Daheng Prize for Optics is selected once every two years, and there are two kinds of awards: 1. Young and middle-aged scientific and technological personnel are awarded with two optical awards each time, which reward young and middle-aged scientific and technological personnel who love the motherland, have a decent style of study, have made innovations and developments in the research of optics and optical engineering, have published high-level academic papers in domestic and foreign journals or have made breakthroughs in engineering technology, and have achieved obvious economic and social benefits; 2. Optical Award for College Students. There are 1 colleges and universities, and each school has one candidate. It rewards undergraduates and postgraduates under the age of 3 who love the motherland, have good moral character, are physically and mentally healthy, have excellent academic performance, are innovative, enterprising and team spirit, have made creative achievements in scientific research or teaching practice, and are interested in making contributions to the optical cause in China. Awards will be selected by the Board of Directors of chinese optical society Wang Daheng Prize for Optics.

over the years, chinese optical society has organized and united the vast number of scientific and technological workers in the fields of optics, photonics and optical engineering, and made positive contributions to the development of optical technology, the dissemination of optical knowledge, the promotion of optical research, the cultivation of optical talents and the popularization of optical engineering applications.
