Abstract Earth science is a general term for knowledge about the earth, which not only penetrates into people's production and life In all aspects, it is closely related to the sustainable economic development of the country. In the current special period of frequent geological disasters, it is even more important to popularize earth science and cultural knowledge to the public.
Keywords Earth science, sustainable development, science popularization
1 Introduction
Earth science culture is an important component and subsystem of human culture and is the basis of human understanding. , grasping, developing and utilizing the earth, adjusting the relationship between man and the earth, and the sum of spiritual and material achievements formed in the social practice of developing and utilizing the earth. Specifically, it is manifested in human’s understanding, concepts, thoughts, consciousness, and mentality of the earth, as well as the resulting lifestyle, including economic structure, laws and regulations, customs of food, clothing, housing, transportation, language, culture, and art [1].
The public has an increasing demand for understanding of earth science and cultural knowledge. However, currently, due to ideological limitations and insufficient awareness, earth science and cultural knowledge has not been more widely popularized. As collectors and preservers of geoscience information resources, we have this obligation.
2 Earth science is everywhere
Earth science is a general term that studies all aspects of the earth and can be divided into multiple disciplines. Different disciplines usually start from their own Aspects such as physics, geography, geology, meteorology, mathematics, chemistry, biology, etc. are used to study the earth. Since it involves almost all natural subjects, earth science is closely related to human life. The gold jewelry and diamonds worn by people come from the earth's mineral resources; changes in temperature affect life around the world; the movement of celestial bodies , also affects us all the time. In addition, the sand, stone, and cement used to build houses also come from the earth; most of the fish and shrimp we eat come from the ocean. All in all, all aspects of human production and life are closely related to earth science.
Earth science has a broad scope, covering fields such as geology, oceanography, meteorology and astronomy. Geology explores the history and composition of the Earth's various parts, including its evolution and the distribution of various minerals, rocks, and minerals; Oceanography studies the movement of seawater, the physical and chemical properties of seawater, and seafloor topography; Meteorology analyzes the atmosphere The composition, structure and movement of the earth; and the origin of the earth, the formation of the solar system, the movement and changes of celestial bodies, and even the evolution of the universe, are all within the scope of astronomy. Take the impact of meteorites on the earth as an example: the impact of high temperature and high pressure on the earth will inevitably cause changes in terrain and geology; dust particles flying in the atmosphere will block sunlight, causing the temperature of the atmosphere and seawater to drop. Therefore, seemingly simple astronomical events cause changes in geology, meteorology, and oceans, which shows that all fields are closely related and interlocked [2].
3 Earth Science and Sustainable Economic Development
Earth science involves all aspects of natural science and is of great value in promoting sustainable development of social economy.
The core issue of sustainable development is the harmonious development of man and nature. On the one hand, it emphasizes that human beings must maintain a harmonious relationship with nature when pursuing their rights to survival and development. On the other hand, it emphasizes that when contemporary people create and pursue future development and consumption, they should recognize and strive to ensure that their own opportunities are shared with future generations. Equal opportunity. Development is the last word, and healthy economic development is the basis for social and political stability, but development must rely on the support of the environment. If development causes more and more serious damage to human beings' own living environment, causing environmental degradation and depletion of resources, it will mean the loss of production means and the decline of people's quality of life, which will eventually lead to new poverty and inevitably bring about social unrest. and crisis, development loses its meaning [3].
Population, resources, and environment have become the three major elements of human social and economic development. Social and economic development must properly handle the relationship between population, resources, and environment [4]. This must be achieved by first striving to provide scientific and accurate basic geological data for infrastructure and urbanization construction. Secondly, we should strive to improve human beings' ability to pay attention to the ecological environment, serve to maintain a good ecological environment, and avoid uncontrolled development and consumption of resources. Once again, human beings’ ability to predict, prevent and manage geological disasters should be improved. Although geological disasters induced by geological processes and human engineering activities are inevitable in many cases, they are not unknowable. We can use high-tech means to carry out monitoring of geological disasters and improve the ability to predict and warn geological disasters in advance to reduce economic losses caused by geological disasters. Fourth, it can provide the guarantee capability of mineral resources for sustainable economic development. Mineral resources are one of the important material foundations for the development of human society. Sustainable economic development in the future is inseparable from mineral resources. We attach great importance to the search and utilization of energy minerals, especially clean energy mineral resources.
4 Popularization of earth science and cultural knowledge
Earth science not only penetrates into all aspects of people's production and life, but is also closely related to the country's economic and social sustainable development. Therefore, it needs to be popularized among the public. Earth science and cultural knowledge.
After years of continuous efforts, the current publicity and popularization of earth science culture has made great progress, but there are still some problems [1].
On the one hand, the ideological basis of the main body of propaganda still remains at the level of publicity and popularization of general scientific knowledge. The methods of propaganda are mainly limited to newspapers, books and periodicals, and the use of new media suitable for young audiences needs to be strengthened. The intensity of earth science and cultural propaganda is far from being in line with social development. On the other hand, there is a lack of a large number of popular geoscience cultural products with rich content and diverse forms, which is incompatible with the public’s increasing demand for geoscience knowledge and information on the living environment, geological hazards, resources and national conditions, etc. In the current period, domestic and international geological disasters occur frequently. From the elimination of people's fear to the prediction and prevention of future geological disasters, the public's demand for earth science and cultural knowledge is extremely urgent. This requires further increasing the dissemination of earth science knowledge. Breadth and intensity.
What the public needs is not only the improvement of life brought about by advanced scientific knowledge, but more importantly, the asymmetry of the knowledge gap and information gap, which is to solve the problem of knowledge and information that have been created by scientists. The problem of the growing chain between the public's knowledge of this knowledge, and this chain is the fundamental determinant of the country's comprehensive competitiveness. The improvement of scientific culture is the driving force for the prosperity and progress of human society. The lag in scientific and cultural advancement will inevitably affect the development of civilization construction. The promotion of earth science culture must also conform to the trend of the times and move towards the direction of "popular cultural geological view".
5 Conclusion
Currently, society is developing in a diversified and accelerating manner, and accordingly the needs of the public are also diversifying, among which the need for scientific popularization of knowledge is becoming more and more urgent. Earth science is a general term for all disciplines related to the earth. It not only penetrates into all aspects of people's production and life, but is also closely related to the country's sustainable economic development. In the current special period of frequent geological disasters, earth science and cultural knowledge should be popularized to the public. more important.
