China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) was established in March 1989 and is headed by the Office of the Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development of the State Council. It is a non-profit social organization that manages donated funds at home and abroad, and is an independent social group legal person.

The Beijing headquarters of China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation has 80 employees. There are 26 branches and subsidiaries in China.

Foundation employees have long been engaged in poverty alleviation or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and rural development, and their majors include economy, agriculture, finance, business administration, community development and other fields.
