Wu Xiangzhou's research expertise
Professor Wu Xiangzhou's research specialty is poetry and Yuefu studies. Professor Wu Xiangzhou advocates explaining literary problems from the perspective of chorus poetry. He has presided over two national social science fund projects, one of which was rated as an excellent achievement in appraisal. These two items are:

1. The Relationship between Poetry Creation and Poetry Singing (2000-2002) gives a new explanation to many problems in the study of Tang poetry from the perspective of music, such as the relationship between the formation of modern poetry and music, the entry of old poems in Tang Dynasty, the prosperity and poetry singing of Tang poetry, and the writing and poetry singing of Bai Yuan New Yuefu, all of which have not been raised and solved by predecessors.

2. The Study on the Relationship between Yongming Style and Music (2003-2005) proved that Yongming Style is the product of the combination of poetry and music with detailed materials and rigorous logical analysis, thus correcting the wrong view that scholars in the 20th century generally think that Yongming Style is the product of the separation of poetry and music, which is an important discovery in the study of ancient literature. The research on the relationship between the creation of Tang poems and the singing of songs and poems and the research on the relationship between Yongming style and music, which were published by Peking University Publishing House, have had a positive impact in academic circles.

Professor Wu Xiangzhou showed a high degree of consciousness in the study of Yuefu, put forward the concept of Yuefu for the first time, put forward the idea of systematically constructing modern Yuefu, and edited and published Yuefu, an academic publication devoted to Yuefu research. After the publication of Journal of Peking University, his paper Reflections on Yuefu Construction was reprinted by China Social Science Abstracts and China Ancient Modern Literature Research. He led the team of 1 1 to complete the Tenth Five-Year Plan project of Beijing and the key project of Beijing Education Commission "Research on Yuefu Poetry" (2003-2005), and conducted the positioning research on Yuefu Poetry from the perspectives of literature, music and literature for the first time, which comprehensively promoted the research on Yuefu Poetry. This research has resulted in 10 monograph, which will be published by Peking University Publishing House in the first half of 2007. He is leading a five-member team to engage in the 11th Five-Year Plan project of Beijing and the key project of Beijing Education Commission "Study on the Elements of Yuefu Poetry" (2007-2009).

Professor Wu Xiangzhou presided over two national social science fund projects, two key projects in Beijing, published two academic monographs, and published more than 70 papers in core journals such as Research on Literature and Art, Literary Heritage and Journal of Peking University.

At present, I am engaged in the writing of A General History of China's Poetry: Volumes of Tang and Five Dynasties. This project belongs to the Tenth Five-Year Key Project of the National Social Science Fund, and its significance lies in changing the situation that poetry is the only genre in ancient China literature. As a 1 volume in the Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties, it is of great significance: Tang poetry is the peak of the development of the whole history of China poetry, and the number of great poets accounts for half of the whole history of China poetry. The quality of this volume is related to the success or failure of the whole project. The book will reach 600,000 words and is expected to be completed in 2008.

In 2009, Professor Wu Xiangzhou presided over the planning project of China Poetry Research Center "Study on the Classification of Yuefu Poetry", which was published by Peking University Publishing House. The achievements of this project include 9 monographs, namely, Study on the Songs of Jiaomiao, Study on Advocating Cross-wind Songs, Study on Xianghe Songs, Study on Songs of Qing Dynasty, Study on Dance Songs, Study on Qin Ge, Study on Miscellaneous Songs, Study on Modern Songs and Study on New Music Songs. This achievement is the tenth five-year plan project of Beijing, the key project of Beijing Education Commission, and the "2 1 1" project planning project of Capital Normal University. The Hundred Volumes of Yuefu Poems compiled by Guo Maoqian in the Song Dynasty is a collection of movements and ballads from ancient times to the Tang and Five Dynasties, including most works except The Book of Songs and Songs of the South, and it is the most important book for studying Yuefu Poems in ancient China. As we all know, many of China's ancient poems, especially those before Tang Dynasty, are full of music. Music had an important influence on the occurrence and development of China's ancient poetry, and Yuefu even became a specialized knowledge in ancient times. However, due to the separation of poetry and music in modern disciplines, Yuefu poetry, an important ancient book, has been ignored, and the research on it is far from enough, especially from the perspective of the combination of poetry and music. The research on the classification of Yuefu poems, presided over by Professor Wu Xiangzhou, combines literature research, music exploration and literature analysis for the first time. According to the twelve categories of Yuefu poems in this book, from the study of literature to the concern about the history of poetry, the works in Yuefu poems are collected, including the analysis of the inclusion standards and classification basis, the study of Yuefu system, the tunes and terms involved, the description of the spread and changes of various Yuefu poems, the musical characteristics of various Yuefu poems, the influence on the theme, theme and artistic characteristics, the language form and even style of the works, and their position and role in the history of poetry. In my opinion, this is the most innovative set of works in the study of ancient literature in China in 2009, and it is also the greatest achievement of the Chinese Poetry Research Center in scientific research in 2009.
