In August 1984, with the approval of the Party Committee of the Zhongshan Municipal Labor Bureau, the Technical School Party Branch was established.

On November 10, the Guangdong Provincial Planning Commission issued a document agreeing to transfer the Zhongshan branch of Foshan Second Technical School to Zhongshan City to establish Zhongshan Technical School.

On January 5, 1985, Zhongshan Technical School was officially established. The school funds were allocated by the Zhongshan Finance Bureau. It was affiliated to the Zhongshan Labor Bureau and was a stock-level unit with a staff establishment of 14 people.

In March 1989, Zhongshan Technical School was upgraded to a department-level unit.

(1990-1999) In July 1990, with the approval of the Zhongshan Municipal Government Working Committee, the Zhongshan Technical School Party Branch was established.

On September 8, because the original site of the technical school, the "People's Hall", was listed as a dangerous building, the municipal government decided to merge the municipal technical school with the municipal trade union vocational school. The municipal technical school was moved to the municipal trade union vocational school (the Federation of Trade Unions Building), and the students lived in the workers' clinic building.

It was agreed to consider a separate expenditure of 18.72 million yuan in education funds, of which 10 million yuan will be allocated in 1995 and 8.72 million yuan in 1996. 80 acres of land will be allocated and the school construction project will be completed within two years.

On April 23, 1996, the Zhongshan City Labor Bureau decided to establish the Zhongshan City Advanced Technician Training Center, which is affiliated with the Zhongshan City Technical School; on the same day, the Zhongshan City Labor Bureau approved the establishment of the Zhongshan City Technical School Wuguishan Branch, which is affiliated with the Zhongshan City Technical School.

On December 10, the Zhongshan Municipal Labor Bureau approved the implementation of the principal responsibility system in schools.

In 1997, entrusted by the Labor Bureau, the "Electrician Training Course" was held in Hong Kong for the first time, pioneering the first domestic class to be held in Hong Kong.

On June 8, 1998, the construction project of the new technical school officially started and a groundbreaking ceremony was held.

On October 26, the school was upgraded to a deputy department-level unit directly under the Labor and Social Security Bureau.

In November, Xu Rongdong, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Labor and Social Security, led the provincial CPPCC leaders to inspect the school.

On January 1, 2002, a cooperative education contract was signed with Hubei Jianghan Oilfield Advanced Technical School.
