Macau University of Science and Technology was established in 2000, and it belongs to Macau University of Science and Technology Foundation. It is the first private university established after Macao's return to China and the largest university in the Macao Special Administrative Region at present. In 2009, Time magazine ranked 36th universities in Greater China 100.

Liao Yunze, a student of Macau University of Science and Technology, was founded in Liao Yunze, a native of Yongding, Fujian, born in Hong Kong New Territories, China, 1950. Bachelor of English Literature and Doctor of Business Administration. Liao is deputy director of China People's Political Consultative Conference, member of the Executive Council of Macao Special Administrative Region, one of the founders of Macau University of Science and Technology, chairman of the board of directors of Macau University of Science and Technology, vice president of Macau Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and chairman of more than ten companies including Macau Kang Ze Group and Guangzhou Xinfuli Automobile Co., Ltd. 20 19 won the Golden Lotus Medal of Honor of Macao Special Administrative Region.
