Wu Guoxiong, from Chaoyang, Guangdong, party member. 196 1 After graduating from high school, he was admitted to Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (formerly Nanjing Institute of Meteorology) and graduated from 1966. 1967- 1978 as weather forecast engineer of Gansu Meteorological Bureau. 1978 went to the graduate school of China University of Science and Technology, and then went to study in the UK. 1980- 1983 studied in the Department of Physics, Imperial College London, University of London, UK, and obtained a doctorate in physics. Later, he served as a visiting scientist in european centre for medium-range weather forecasts, England. 1After returning to China at the end of 1984, he worked in lasg and was promoted to researcher the following year. Senior Research Professor in Geophysical Fluid Laboratory of Princeton University 1989- 1 year. Since 1993, I have been in my present post. 1997 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences. In 2008, he won the "Li Fund Science and Technology Progress Award". 20 12 was elected honorary member of the royal meteorological society. 20 14 won the Chen Jiageng Earth Science Award.
