Tianjin University of Technology has gained wide popularity because of its excellent teaching level and good social reputation. The school has 16 departments, including science, information and photoelectric engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical and electronic engineering, construction engineering, humanities and social sciences, business studies, applied foreign languages, sports and health sciences, art design, law, education science and so on. The following is a detailed introduction of each department:

1. Department of Science: It includes three colleges, namely, mathematical science, physical science and chemistry. It focuses on the teaching and research of basic theoretical disciplines, and also undertakes a number of national and provincial key scientific research projects and research tasks of natural fund projects every year.

2. Department of Information and Optoelectronic Engineering: including three colleges: Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering and Computer Science and Technology. It involves many hot fields such as communication, optoelectronics and information processing, and is one of the important information and engineering disciplines in the school.

3. Department of Materials Science and Engineering: including four colleges: Materials Science and Engineering, New Energy Materials and Devices Science, Materials Physics and Chemistry, and Polymer Science and Engineering. These subjects involve the basic and applied research of metals, nonmetals, polymers and other materials.

4. Department of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering: including mechanical engineering, electronic science and technology, measurement and control science and technology, and automation, involving robotics, manufacturing technology, measurement and control, etc. It is one of the important subjects of mechanical and electronic information engineering in schools.

5. Department of Architectural Engineering: including architecture, urban planning and design, and civil engineering. Its main goal is to train professionals in architecture, urban design and civil engineering, and it is also responsible for the important campus planning and construction tasks of the school in recent years.

6. Department of Humanities and Social Sciences: It includes five schools of philosophy, history, politics and administration, sociology and social work, news communication and international culture, covering many branches of humanities and social sciences, and is an important direction of teaching and research of humanities and social sciences in schools.

7. Business: It mainly includes four colleges of management, accounting, business administration and tourism management, covering many fields such as business administration, finance, marketing and enterprise management, and is an important department for training business professionals.

8. Applied Foreign Languages Department: including English, Japanese, German, Spanish, French and other language colleges and translation colleges, it is an important department in charge of foreign language education and cultural exchange in the school.

9. Sports Health Science Department: It includes four colleges: physical education, sports training, social sports and sports human science, aiming at cultivating excellent sports coaches, sports talents and athletes.

10. Art and Design Department: It includes four colleges: Design College, Music and Dance College, Fine Arts College and Media Art College, covering the fields of art, design and media, with a high level.
