The life of the forest group
Lin Qun, male, born in July, 1935, originally from Fuzhou, Fujian (Lianjiang), is a non-partisan and a deputy to the National People's Congress. At present, he is a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Mathematics and System Science of China Academy of Sciences. 1993 was an academician of China Academy of Sciences, and 1999 was an academician of Third World Academy of Sciences. 1995 ——1999 served as the vice chairman of chinese mathematical society for two consecutive years. He is currently a member of the leading group of Tianyuan Mathematics Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation and the leading group of the Preparatory Committee for the 2002 China International Congress of Mathematicians. Academician Lin Qun is a famous mathematician and academic leader in the field of functional analysis and computational mathematics in China. Since 1970s, he has made a series of outstanding achievements in the research of acceleration theory for solving differential equations, and formed a systematic theory, which is recognized as a "pioneering work" by colleagues at home and abroad and listed as "one of the three most promising acceleration theories at present". He won the first prize of Natural Science Award of China Academy of Sciences and the Mathematics Achievement Award of Czech Academy of Sciences 200 1. In view of academician Lin Qun's academic attainments, academic status and academic influence, and the basis of years of cooperation with our school, our school hired academician Lin Qun as distinguished professor in July 2000 and worked in our school for three months every year.
