Introduction to the School of Mechanical Engineering of Southeast University:
The School of Mechanical Engineering originated from the specialized course of technology established by Nanjing Normal University, the predecessor of Southeast University, in 1916. It was the earliest engineering department set up by Southeast University, and passed through department of mechanical engineering of National Central University, department of mechanical engineering of Nanjing Institute of Technology and department of mechanical engineering of Southeast University. In the 9-year history of running a school, Mao Yisheng, Zhou Ren, Zhou Huijiu, Wu Xuelin, Yan Jici, Qian Zhonghan, Bai Shiyi, Chen Xuejun, Ceng Dechao, Yang Liming, Yan Minggao, Zhao Renkai, Wang Guojin, Tong Binggang, Ding Henggao and other well-known scholars and academicians of the two academies have worked or studied in the School of Mechanical Engineering. In the past 9 years, the School of Mechanical Engineering has not only trained more than 1, graduates for China's machinery, electronics and other industrial fields, but also supported the establishment and development of disciplines and specialties such as energy and power, aviation, automation, instrument science, automobiles and materials, and made important contributions to China's higher education and national economic construction.
At present, the School of Mechanical Engineering has five departments, namely, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation Department, Mechanical Electronic Engineering Department, Design Engineering Department, Vehicle Engineering Department and Industrial Engineering Department, two school-level centers for industrial development and training, and electric light source research, and a mechanical engineering experimental platform. There are 18 research institutes and 7 laboratories, and there are 196 faculty members, including 26 full-time senior titles, 58 sub-senior titles and 14 doctoral supervisors.
At present, the School of Mechanical Engineering has formed six doctoral and master's programs in two disciplines, including the first-class discipline of mechanical engineering and post-doctoral mobile stations, as well as mechanical manufacturing and automation, mechanical electronic engineering, mechanical design and theory, vehicle engineering, industrial design and manufacturing industrial engineering, which can all recruit doctoral and master's students. A complete discipline system of mechanical engineering for two undergraduate majors: mechanical engineering and its automation and industrial engineering. Taking the "211 Project" and "985 Project" as an opportunity, the College focuses on the * * technologies in modern equipment design and manufacturing, including rapid product/process/assembly integrated development technologies, system modeling, flexible reconfiguration and quality assurance technologies of manufacturing systems and processes, acquisition, processing, transmission and application technologies of manufacturing information and knowledge, quality monitoring of electromechanical systems, electromagnetic compatibility and environmental reliability technologies. Nano-manufacturing, ultra-precision machining and micromachining technologies have made their own characteristics in the design, manufacture, adaptive control, quality assurance and electromagnetic compatibility of modern automation equipment such as new light sources and equipment, smart cars and engineering vehicles, CNC machine tools, special equipment for semiconductor integrated circuits and micro-special machinery.
The School of Mechanical Engineering has undertaken and completed a large number of national, ministerial and provincial scientific research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation, the National 863 High-tech Project, the National Science and Technology Research Project and the Ministry-provincial Key Research Project, as well as scientific and technological cooperation and product development projects with enterprises, with an annual scientific research fund of 2 million yuan and outstanding scientific research achievements. Since the 198s, the College has won 1 second prize for national scientific and technological progress, 5 first prizes at the provincial level, 18 second prizes, 4 third and fourth prizes and 6 patents. Some achievements have reached the international or domestic advanced level, and have been applied to production practice, resulting in good social and economic benefits. At the same time, the college teachers wrote books, published a large number of scientific research papers in core journals, and published more than 1 influential academic monographs.
The College of Mechanical Engineering has rich experience in running schools and excellent teaching traditions. The majority of teachers are enthusiastic about teaching reform, and have carried out long-term, all-round research and systematic and in-depth practice around personnel training, forming a scientific and standardized modern education system. It has produced a number of national and provincial teaching achievements, including classic textbooks such as "Mechanical Principles" and "Fundamentals of Mechanical Design", which are characterized by the cultivation of students' learning ability, practical ability and comprehensive innovation ability. based on the existing discipline direction, the School of Mechanical Engineering actively follows the international academic frontier, strengthens international and domestic academic exchanges, and promotes interdisciplinary integration. The college actively carried out cooperative research with foreign universities, and successively obtained funding from inter-governmental university cooperation programs such as China-UK, China-Canada and China-Australia. Internationally renowned scholars and professors are invited to give lectures in our college, and extensive cooperative relations have been established with many international academic institutions. At the same time, actively select outstanding young teachers to study abroad, visit or attend international conferences. In the past five years, more than 6 teachers have visited the United States, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Germany, Britain, Japan and other countries for further study, which has promoted the overall academic level of the college and expanded its influence.
