The origin of the first trophy is unknown. For the second trophy, young sculptor Yang Yingfeng was invited to design it, using Yin and Shang patterns to structure the "horse's head is looking forward" to show the exemplary elegance of the winner and to keep pace with the progress of the times.
The progressive design is like a galloping war horse, which symbolizes the spirit of continuous efforts of film artists towards professionalism, artistry and internationalization. It also contains the macro-mind of Chinese-language films looking at the world and striving for excellence. The golden horse is full of enthusiasm and leaping forward.

The review committee members are composed of film-related professionals, and the review stages are divided into preliminary selection, secondary selection and final selection.
Directors and supervisors of the Film Foundation and executive members of the Golden Horse Executive Committee are not allowed to serve as jury members.
During the selection process at each stage, personnel in front of and behind the scenes of the participating films (based on the complete credits before and after the film) are not allowed to serve as judges for this category and stage.
Jury members may not serve for two consecutive years.
The review members must personally participate in the entire selection process and must not be absent or have others act on their behalf. Otherwise, their review qualifications will be revoked upon notification to the Golden Horse Executive Committee for approval.
If the qualifications of a review member are incompatible, or the selection principles are violated during the selection process, their review qualifications will be revoked immediately upon verification.
