On June 5, 1993, several founders of Friends of Nature held China’s first non-governmental spontaneous environmental Seminar - "Linglong Garden Conference". On March 31, 1994, Friends of Nature was established, marking the birth of China's first non-governmental environmental protection group registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The founders are Liang Congjie, Yang Dongping, Liang Xiaoyan and Wang Lixiong. Among them, Professor Liang Congjie, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a tutor at the Chinese Culture Academy, serves as the president, and Professor Yang Dongping, an expert on social, cultural and educational issues, serves as the vice president. Friends of Nature supports government policies, regulations and measures to protect the environment and cooperates and supervises them as much as possible. Over the past ten years, Friends of Nature has accumulated more than 8,000 members, including more than 3,000 active members and nearly 30 group members.
