The Botanical Pavilion of the Beijing World Expo is also called "Kaleidoscope", adhering to the green ecological design concept of the Beijing World Expo. In order to reduce the energy consumption of the Botanical Pavilion, during the design and construction, Vanke Group achieved passive and active two-way energy saving by making environmental positioning plans in advance and upgrading the building intelligence, always adhered to the three principles of low carbon, low water and low emission, and adopted unconventional planting methods to improve the planting standards of landscape plants.
The display of mangrove ecosystem will be a major feature of the Botanical Garden. The theme exhibition hall on the first floor of the exhibition hall will build a virtual mangrove forest through high-tech digital imaging devices, and plant and display the real mangrove plant community style in the main entrance area of the greenhouse, so as to show the wisdom of mangrove plants in a combination of reality and reality.
Sun Lili, Secretary-General of Mangrove Foundation, introduced the unique survival wisdom of mangroves: Mangroves, as the only woody plant community in the offshore area, can adapt to the difficult and special living environment such as lack of oxygen in intertidal soil, high salt content and tidal washing, and evolve various adaptation mechanisms on roots, stems, leaves and seeds, and form forests on beaches where ordinary plants are difficult to grow. At the same time, mangrove plants give back to the environment where they grow, making the intertidal zone an ideal environment for more plants to live.
