At present, Shanghai Youth Federation includes Shanghai Committee of Communist Youth League of China, Shanghai Student Federation, Shanghai Young Entrepreneurs Association, Shanghai YMCA, Shanghai Young Women's Federation, Shanghai Outstanding Youth Association, Shanghai Youth Development Foundation, Shanghai Young Entrepreneurs Association, Shanghai Young Township Entrepreneurs Association, Shanghai Youth Literature and Art Federation, Shanghai Youth Sports Federation, as well as Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Star Association, Shanghai Youth Education Association and Shanghai Youth Volunteers Association.

Members of Shanghai Youth Federation are recommended by various systems, member units and previous members for a term of five years. Youth Federation members are outstanding young talents or representatives from all walks of life who have a certain influence on youth. It brings together party and government organs, politics and law, troops stationed in Shanghai, education, science and technology, social sciences, press and publication, literature and sports, medicine and health, industry, transportation construction, finance, business tourism, foreign-funded enterprises, social work and intermediary services, agriculture, non-public economy, returned students, Taiwan Province compatriots and overseas Chinese in Hong Kong and Macao.

The 9th Committee of Shanghai Youth Federation has 1 chairman and several vice-chairmen. The chairman, vice-chairman and the Standing Committee are elected by the plenary session. When the plenary session is not in session, the Standing Committee shall preside over the meeting. The Standing Committee has a secretariat. The Secretary-General presides over the daily work of the secretariat and assists the chairman and vice-chairmen in handling business.
