The first is the 10 volume, of which the first to fourth volumes were written by Fan Wenlan; 5 to 10 books are waiting at Cai Meibiao's place.

The first volume (from ancient times to the Five Dynasties) was published in 194 1 year, and the middle volume (from Song Liao to the middle of Qing Dynasty) was published in 1942. The second volume only completed the Opium War to the Boxer Rebellion, entitled "Modern History of China". The first volume was published in 1946. On the other hand, the middle volumes are collectively called A Brief History of China. The publication of General History of China is a revolutionary progress in the history of Chinese historiography. After the national liberation, Fan Wenlan checked the shortcomings of the book and revised the Outline of General History of China. Now there are also 12 volumes published.
