What results did the SCO Qingdao Summit achieve?

The original intention of the SCO is to seek stability and promote development. This is also the SCO's unchanging theme.

At the Qingdao Summit, all parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in all aspects to build a community with a shared future, and achieved important results in five aspects.

First, there is a new plan for organizational development.

The "SCO family" is getting bigger and bigger, with more and more members, but unity and mutual trust are the fine traditions of the SCO.

The "Qingdao Declaration" reiterated that all parties will further develop good-neighborly and friendly relations and build the border between China and Taiwan into a border of permanent peace and friendship.

The Qingdao Summit adopted the implementation outline for the next five years of the "Treaty of Long-term Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation among SCO Member States", proposed a series of major cooperation measures, and charted a roadmap for the development of the SCO in the next five years.

The second is to launch new measures for security cooperation.

The Qingdao Summit approved important documents such as the outline of cooperation for the next three years in combating the "three evil forces".

Wang Yi said that these documents focus on the main threats affecting regional security, meet the common needs of all parties, are precise and feasible, and have important practical significance.

Third, economic cooperation has injected new impetus.

The Qingdao Summit adopted a number of pragmatic cooperation documents, covering many areas such as trade facilitation, food security, and customs cooperation. It can be said that it is of heavy weight and wide coverage, and will help further deepen and solidify cooperation between countries.

In particular, they issued a joint statement on trade facilitation, calling for maintaining the multilateral trading system with WTO rules as the core and building an open world economy, making a unanimous voice of adhering to multilateralism and opposing protectionism.

More and more countries are realizing that pursuing construction behind closed doors will not work and that coordinated development is the general trend.

We are pleased to see that the Belt and Road Initiative has received more and more widespread support, and that the integration of national development strategies and regional cooperation initiatives continues to make new progress.

Fourth, people-to-people and cultural cooperation has achieved new results.

Wang Yi said that the SCO attaches great importance to environmental protection issues.

The leaders of the member states jointly approved the concept of environmental protection cooperation and established the strategic goal of maintaining ecological balance and achieving green and sustainable development.

In addition, all parties also agreed to continue to carry out fruitful cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science and technology, health, tourism, youth, women, media, sports and other fields.

Fifth, we have opened up new prospects in foreign exchanges.

The SCO has always adhered to the principles of openness, equality, inclusiveness and transparency in its external exchanges, and our "circle of friends" continues to expand.

This summit not only saw the participation of heads of long-term partners such as the United Nations, but also welcomed for the first time senior representatives from the Eurasian Economic Union, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank.

The SCO Secretariat also signed a cooperation document with UNESCO.

All these reflect that the international community highly recognizes the SCO's cooperation concept and pays more and more attention to the SCO's growing influence.
