Yang Dazu, born in Tangkou Town, Kaiping, 1935 was born in Chikan Ancient Town, Kaiping. In his early years, he worked in literature and art in Kaiping, his hometown. He became a professional folk singer in Guangdong Folk Music Troupe from 65438 to 0957, and began to perform cross talk from 65438 to 0958. Later, he began to cross talk with Huang Junying, which was a great success. On the stage, Huang Junying reacted quickly, made many hands and held it properly; Yang Da's performance was very stable, and he made a lot of jokes, which made him leave no trace.
Behind the scenes, Huang Junying wrote the script, and the two discussed it together, constantly revised it, and then went to the countryside to perform, and adjusted it according to the audience's reaction. 1983, "Guangzhou Crosstalk Art Society" was established, with Yang Da elected as the president and Huang Junying as the head of "Guangzhou Crosstalk Art Troupe". Under the impetus of the two, Cantonese crosstalk has developed rapidly. In the 1980s and 1990s, almost all Guangdong families' radios and televisions were playing cross talks and sketches by Yang Da and Huang Junying, and their works grew up with a generation.
Yang Da, together with Huang Junying, Lu Haichao, Zhang Yuekai, Lin Zhaoming, Wu Ke and Cai Chuanxing, is also called the "Seven Laughing Stars of Yangcheng".
