Qualifications for overseas students in public schools: they support the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Socialism with Chinese characteristics system, have a good professional foundation and development potential, have China nationality (no permanent residency abroad), have reached the age of 18, are physically and mentally healthy, meet the foreign language conditions for studying abroad funded by the National Fund for Studying Abroad, meet the language requirements of countries and units studying abroad, and meet other specific requirements of the application project.

The state-sponsored study abroad is aimed at the selected outstanding talents and is generally sent to well-known universities in countries and regions with developed science and technology education.

Generally, the contents of state-funded study abroad are round-trip international travel expenses and scholarships during the funding period. Scholarships include meals, accommodation fees, registration fees, bench fees, transportation fees, telephone fees, books and materials fees, medical insurance fees, communication fees, one-time resettlement fees, visa extension fees, pocket expenses, handling fees and subsidies for academic activities. Some people can be provided with tuition assistance.
