Wei Zhe was born in Shanghai in 1970.
Graduated from Shanghai International Studies University in 1993 and joined Shanghai Wanguo Securities Company.
He has successively served as deputy general manager of the Asset Management Headquarters of Wanguo Securities, senior manager of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), and general manager of the Orient Securities Investment Bank Headquarters.
In 2000, he served as executive vice president and financial director of B&Q (China). In 2002, he became president of B&Q (China), leading the management team to develop into China's largest building materials retail supermarket chain in 5 years.
He was named "China's Top Seven Retail Figures in 2004" and "China's Top Ten Retail Figures in 2005".
He officially joined Alibaba in November 2006 and served as executive vice president of Alibaba Group and president of Alibaba Enterprise (B2B) e-commerce.
On February 21, 2011, he established "Jiayu Fund"1 after resigning from Alibaba.
On December 15, 2011, he officially joined Allye Group as an independent director.
On April 11, 2016, he officially joined Zall Group as an independent director and served as chairman of the remuneration committee.
