——Afterword to Li Yinuo's "Where Does Power Come From"

A while ago, teacher Zhang Wenhua recommended this book in our Tibet Aid Group. The moment I saw the message, I went to Dangdang.com to buy the book.

I just finished reading the last book and am thinking about what to read next.

This recommendation comes at just the right time.

The next day, I started reading this book, off and on, and it took me about three days to finish it.

Since it is the first time to read, I think I should have some "communication" with my comrades, so why not use the text method that I prefer to "dialogue".

Li Yinuo's book "Where Does Power Come From" is a narrative developed from some key words.

For example, "dare not", "face", "power", etc.

What I want to say is based on the following key sentences that I jotted down while reading.

1. His native family gave Li Yinuo inexhaustible love and courage throughout his life.

When she was less than thirteen years old, Li Yinuo's parents divorced. She grew up in a single-parent family and had to live a homeless life with her mother. She was a poor student by her own definition.

But she grew up healthily and became a recognized elite from all walks of life.

Taking ten thousand steps back, breaking away from the worldly perspective, and stripping away all the halo from her body, I think she is still a person who walks toward the light and can warm you and me at any time and in any situation.

People tend to believe that children from single-parent families are more likely to have problems. Regardless of whether this view is scientific or not, from this book, we clearly see that it is difficult for Li Yinuo to become one of these single-parent problem teenagers.

, because even the divorced relatives of her original family gave her a lifetime of love and courage, which is really an inexhaustible spiritual wealth for a person.

A passage that left a deep impression on me appears in the paragraph "Forever Grandma" (272): "Looking back on when I was with my grandma, everything I did was tolerated and allowed. She never treated me in any way.

If there is a request, it means that I can eat more and take more with me when I go out. I can’t finish my winter vacation homework because the teacher assigned me too much; I forgot something.

It’s okay to do it next time; it’s okay if things are messed up, don’t worry about cleaning up. Grandma is never anxious or angry with me, as long as I can eat well, everything will be fine.” Li Yinuo is really enviable.

Growing up in an environment that made her feel safe, she knew that she would always be loved without any conditions, so she was full of courage and fearless in everything she did.

Because even if she throws away all her certificates and resumes, even if she has nothing, she will still be the Li Yinuo who will be loved.

That sentence in "Wuwen Xidong" - How much is possessed to be more glorious, and how much to possess can be loved?

I particularly like it. Li Yinuo also mentioned it in the book and gave his own answer: What are we pursuing throughout our lives?

It’s nothing but love.

Because of the love and awareness of love that she has never lacked since childhood, she broke away from the "ego" early and finally successfully entered the state of "true self".

Face fear, live in the moment, and walk towards the light.

Therefore, she is not narrow-minded at all. She feels that making the world a better place and letting nature take its course is what she should do, just like drinking water and sleeping.

Such people have peace of mind and are never desolate.

2. The ever-changing platform that is becoming increasingly “lower” in the eyes of the world has allowed Li Yinuo to slowly move towards the highest point of his soul.

After receiving a PhD in molecular biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, Li Yinuo successfully entered McKinsey & Company and once reached the position of global managing partner.

The most hard-core benefit - no matter which doctor in which country she and her family go to for treatment, they can be fully reimbursed - it really made everyone envious, and it also made her feel knotted for a while before she left.

.

I left McKinsey and joined the Gates Foundation, a philanthropic enterprise destined to be marginalized in comparison. Not to mention the sharp decline in income, the future was not promising.

But during those years at the Gates Foundation, she gained a priceless life experience.

Just like when a person drinks water, he knows whether it is hot or cold, and whether it is high or low, his value is self-evident.

I believe that her time at the Gates Foundation was a critical period for her to move from "small self" to "big self". The breakthrough in cognition and the influence of the platform gave her power from all directions.

A person who chooses the right path will live more transparently and understand more clearly.

So, five years later, she made the decision to leave the Gates Foundation again.

This time the decision seems to be more difficult, because what we are facing is not a salary cut, but the loss of a "next job" and the loss of "insurance".

However, Li Yinuo, who was full of strength in his heart, felt less hesitant and more confident.

I have a long-standing belief: I don’t actually pursue excellence, but what I have always pursued is a platform. I am too eager to be with the people I like and do what I really want to do.

And, I hope I can always live with peace of mind.

For me, these two are very high pursuits and a spiritual realm that is difficult to achieve.
