What is Humboldt Fund?
Humboldt Fund was established in Berlin on 1860 in memory of alexander von humboldt, a great German natural scientist and scientific traveler. Before 1923, Humboldt Fund only supported German scholars to conduct scientific investigations abroad. After 1925, the fund turned to support foreign scientists and doctoral students to study in Germany. 1945, the foundation stopped its activities. According to the initiative of former Humboldt scholars, the Foundation was re-established by the Federal Republic of Germany in 1953 12 10 (with legal personality), and its office is located in Goltsberg, Bonn. In the following year, the Foundation provided 75 research scholarships. Since then, nearly 14000 scholars from more than 100 countries have received its funding.
