MAYDAY (English: Mayday) is a rock band in Taiwan Province with five members. Formerly known as "So Band", it was renamed "Mayday" on March 29th, 1997. The orchestra consists of A Xin (lead singer), Monster (guitar), Martha (bass), Stone (guitar) and Guan You (drummer). Except Guan You, the other four graduated from the High School Attached to Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan Province. The name of the band comes from the code name of bassist Martha in the online forum. [1]

So Band(1995-1997)
Mayday's predecessor was "So Band" band, which was composed of guitarist Monster (Wen Shangyi), lead singer A Xin (Ashin) and the first drummer Qian Youda in 1995. [2] Then bassist Martha (Cai Shengyan) joined. After graduating from high school, the four entered different universities, but the orchestra did not stop its activities and continued to perform in many bars and restaurants. Later, he joined the guitarist Stone (Shi Jinhang) before the outdoor singing activity in 1997. In order to sign up for singing in the wild station, they used Martha's code name "MAYDAY" in the online BBS as the group name, and officially changed its name to "Mayday" on March 29, 1997, and set the "Army Commemoration Day" of the band on that day. [1] Mayday is deeply influenced by the criticism of the first four, and thinks that rock music has the power to change the world, and conveys the belief of love and peace in songs, which is a group that all members like very much.
Underground to Mainstream (1997-1998)
The cover of "Mayday's First Creative Album", which is their first studio album, was filmed in front of the locker in the swimming pool attached to the Middle School of Normal University and participated in the opening of the outdoor stage. After that, the orchestra began to send the recorded demo to major record companies, hoping to get a chance to make a film. In June, 1997, Jia Minshu, the producer of Taiwan Province Rolling Stone Records, contacted lead singer A Xin after listening to the audition tape, and signed a contract with Rolling Stone two months later on May. [3] In January of the following year (1998), the orchestra participated in the underground orchestra collection "Song of China" released by Jiaotou Music Institute, which included their first studio work "Rolling Car". In June of the same year, the album "Hug" with the same name was released. Mayday was responsible for most of the lyrics and songs, and arranged all the production and recording work. On July 7, 1999, the first album "Mayday's First Creative Album" was officially released, which was released by Rolling Stone Records. This album has won excellent evaluation between music critics and general audience, sold more than 3 thousand copies [4], and was shortlisted for the "Best Singing Group Award" in the 11th Golden Melody Award. [5] The songs "Zhiming and Chunjiao" and "Hug" quickly became popular among young listeners and became the annual champion of KTV on-demand charts. [6] "Zhiming and Chunjiao" is one of the top ten singles of the year of the Chinese Musicians Exchange Association. Shortly after the release of the first album, on August 28th, 1999, the orchestra held its first large-scale concert "The 168th Concert" at Taipei City Stadium, which attracted many supporters and became a famous rock band in Taiwan Province.
Long live love and the sea of life (1998-21)
The cover of the second studio album "Long live love" was released in 2. On July 7, 2, the orchestra released its second album "Long live love", which sold more than the previous album, reaching 35, copies. [6] Mayday also won the "Best Orchestra Award" in the 12th Golden Melody Award with this album [7]. From August 12 to 26, 2, the orchestra held a concert tour of "1, young people come forward" in Taipei, Changhua and Kaohsiung.
Mayday's third album "Sea of Life" In the spring of 21, Mayday participated in the soundtrack production for the first time, and produced the soundtrack and released the album for the movie "Migratory Birds" starring Rene Liu and Huang Pinyuan. Most of the songs in the album were composed by Mayday, and three of them were sung on May Day. Two months later (July 6, 21), the third album "Sea of Life" was released, and the sales figures accumulated to 35, copies after more than one month. [4] From August 18th to September 1st, 21, the first concert "Where are you going" was held. As Martha, a member of the orchestra, will join the army in a few months, the orchestra will temporarily suspend its activities during this period, and this concert tour has also become a farewell concert for the orchestra. In the concert in Kaohsiung Stadium, guitarist Shi successfully proposed to his girlfriend on the stage [8], which impressed many fans, and the song "I miss you every day" during the proposal was also included in the live album of the concert. In November, 21, with Martha officially joining the art team, Stone went to Britain to study recording engineering and record production, while A Xin and Monster stayed at Rolling Stone Records to continue their music production, while drummer Guan You (then named Yan Ming) went to Los Angeles to study rhythm and percussion, and the orchestra took a break.
Recent and Future Plans (21-present)
During the break of the orchestra, in 22, they released the first autobiographical documentary film "Rock Skill" in the history of Chinese music, and released the soundtrack album of the same name. The film was shown in a large theater in Taiwan Province, and it earned more than NT$ 1.2 million at the box office in three days. [1]
The cover of the fourth studio album "The Time Machine" is also a comeback album after two years' rest on May Day. After two years' rest, Martha retired from the army in July 23, and on May Day, a large-scale comeback concert of "City of the Sky" was held at Taipei Municipal Stadium on August 16th, attracting about 4, fans, setting a record for the number of fans in Taiwan Province concert history. [11] On November 11th, 23, the orchestra released its fourth album, and the first work "Time Machine" after its comeback. Two days after its release, the album sold more than 15, copies [12]. Mayday also won the Best Orchestra Award of Golden Melody Award for the second time with this album. [13]
In the summer of 24, Mayday participated in the soundtrack production of the film for the third time, making music for the film "love of may". Different from before, the guitarist Shi of the orchestra also participated in the performance. On November 5th, 24, they released their fifth studio album "All the Children of God are Dancing".
After that, the first world ticketing concert "Final Home When We Mix Together" was held on May Day for half a year. From December 25, 24 to May 1, 26, many performances were performed in Taiwan Province, the United States, Chinese mainland, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and Hong Kong. After the concert, the live documentary album Final Home was released.
After releasing five albums, the selected album "Satisfied" was released in August 25, which was divided into two CDs of Taiwanese and Mandarin songs. On November 11th, 25, the "Closest Concert to the Sky in History" (or "Overhead Concert") was held on the observation deck on the 91st floor of Taipei 11. The concert was held at an altitude of 39.6 meters, and the record company hoped to apply for the Guinness Book of World Records as "the highest concert in the world".
In p>26, Mayday cooperated with Chen Yongzhi, the strategic director of Rolling Stone Records, and established "Believe in Music" as a shareholder. It owned the brokerage contracts of five groups of artists (including Mayday, Pin Guan, Champion, Dingdong and Fish Leong) and all their music copyrights, and only the records were released to Rolling Stone Records.

In the early morning of January 1st, 27, the "Best New Year's Eve Signing Meeting in History" was held in Xiangdi Avenue, shin kong mitsukoshi, Xinyi, Taipei. The signing meeting lasted for nearly ten hours. On January 6th, 27, "le power Angel, born to love's New Songs Concert" was held in Banqiao, Taipei County and Fengshan, Kaohsiung on January 13th, 27. Many fans queued up at night because they entered the venue with number plate exchange cards. Other new song concerts were held in Hsinchu on January 28th, Fengjia University in Taichung on February 3rd and 4th, Tainan on February 1th and 11th, Chiayi Chung Cheng University on February 24th, Zhongyuan University in Taoyuan on February 25th and Changhua County Gymnasium on February 28th.
Members
Mayday was first composed of A Xin, Monster and then drummer Qian Youda in the High School Attached to Normal University (then "So Band" band), and later joined Martha and Stone. Mayday changed drummers three times before releasing the first album, except for Qian Youda, one of the founding members, followed by Chen Yongkun, Ren Baizhang (Robert, now drummer of Zhuoshuixi Commune) and Guan You at present.
A Xin (Ashin, lead singer)
Born in Beitou, Taipei on December 6, 1975, he graduated from the High School Attached to Normal University, served as the president of the guitar club of the school, and graduated from the Department of Interior Design of Shih Chien University (now changed to the Department of Architectural Design). Is one of the earliest founding members of Mayday. Besides the activities of the orchestra, she often helps other singers to write songs and make music.
Monster (Wen Shangyi, guitarist and leader)
Born in hsinchu city on November 28th, 1976, he graduated from the Sociology Department of National Taiwan Province University. He served as the vice president of Guitar Club of the Middle School Attached to Normal University and the head of Mayday.
Martha (Cai Shengyan, bassist)
Besides bass guitar, Martha is good at guitar, piano and harmonica. Born in Kaohsiung on April 25th, 1977. Graduated from the sociology department of Fu Jen Catholic University, she is the youngest member in May.
Shi Hangwei (guitarist)
Born in Taipei on December 11th, 1975, Shi publicly proposed to his girlfriend at the "Where are you going" concert, and now they are married. He also graduated from the High School Attached to Normal University and later studied at Tamkang University. Formerly known as Shi Jinhang.
Guan You (Guanyou Liu, drummer)
Guan You is the fourth drummer of Mayday Orchestra and joined Mayday in 1999. Originally named Liu Haoming, it was renamed Liu Yanming after joining Mayday. Later, it was renamed Guanyou Liu. Graduated from Guoguang Art School, good at drums and keyboards. Born in miaoli city on July 28th, 1973. He is the oldest member in Mayday and the latest member to join the orchestra.
