Shanghai Comprehensive Insurance is a type of social security in Shanghai. It is targeted at foreign employees who do not have a talent residence permit. If you want to participate in normal urban insurance (four insurances) and housing provident fund, you must hold a "Shanghai Residence Permit" if you have a non-local household registration.
Comprehensive insurance is paid by your employer for 20 yuan per month.
Social security is paid partly by the individual and partly by the employer.
Urban social insurance in Shanghai includes pension insurance, medical insurance, unemployment insurance, and maternity insurance. Work-related injury insurance has not yet been coordinated and is the responsibility of enterprises.
Comprehensive insurance includes three benefits: work-related injury insurance, hospitalization medical care, and elderly benefits (non-local construction companies can enjoy work-related injury and hospitalization medical benefits during the period of participating in the comprehensive insurance).
If a foreign employee is injured in a work-related accident or suffers from an occupational disease while participating in the comprehensive insurance, he or she can receive a one-time payment of work-related injury insurance benefits; if a foreign employee is hospitalized due to illness or non-work-related injury, the portion above the deductible amount incurred during hospitalization will be covered by the comprehensive insurance.
The fund bears 80% and the other 20% is self-contained; foreign employees who have paid continuously for one year can obtain an old-age subsidy certificate and cash in a one-time old-age subsidy in the year of retirement.
