IMF (International Monetary Fund) means International Monetary Fund.

This is an intergovernmental international financial organization.

The International Monetary Fund was formally established on December 27, 1945, and became a specialized agency of the United Nations on November 15, 1947, with its headquarters in Washington, USA.

To date, the IMF has 184 member countries.

Its purpose is to promote international monetary cooperation; promote and stabilize the economic policies of member states; stabilize international exchange rates; eliminate foreign exchange controls that hinder world trade; and temporarily provide member states with funds to improve imbalances in the international balance of payments.
